The U.S. State Department has declared that China is committing genocide against the Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang Province. In addition to genocide, the Chinese Communist Party is committing other egregious human rights atrocities against its own people, such as religious persecution, forced abortion and sterilization, forced organ harvesting, forced labor, mass surveillance, and the detention of dissidents and whistleblowers. Added to this are the CCP’s unleashing of the coronavirus pandemic on the world, its serious abuses in Hong Kong, its threatened aggression against Taiwan, and its attempt to enslave the world through its Belt and Road initiative.
Appeasement diplomacy and constructive engagement do not work. The CCP must be “punished” under the terms of the 1948 Genocide Convention, to which the United States and 151 other nations are parties.
Moving or boycotting the 2022 Olympics in Beijing is just the beginning. What are other ways to “punish” this genocidal regime, to stop its aggressive attempt to become the evil hegemon of the world?
