Suddenly, South Korea, an American Pacific ally vital to thwarting the Chinese Communist Party’s ambitions there, is in crisis.

It could mark the end of the beginning of World War Xi. In 2022, South Koreans simultaneously elected a conservative president named Yoon Suk Yeol determined to reverse his predecessors’ dangerous appeasement of North Korea and its sponsor, Chinese emperor Xi Jinping, and a parliament dominated by hard-left proponents of those policies.

Chaotic events yesterday, prompting Yoon to declare martial law and its rejection by parliament, may result in his impeachment. Add into this political vortex North Korea’s heightened readiness to invade the South again and the recent dispatch to Ukraine of stocks of U.S. anti-personnel mines intended to deter such aggression, and the stage is brilliantly set
for Xi’s next act of strategic arson.

Will it include a conflagration here?
